I-D Work

For our I-d work we had to create a small fashion magazine based on the magazine 'I-D'. The magazine would include 5 straight  up pictures of normal people of the street who looked fashionable and would be under the title 'Fashion on the street'. For this part me and Kate went into burton town and found 10 people who would thought would be good for the photos and if they said yes interview them after just asking them a few simple questions about them self. After we got around 10 we decided the best 5 to use in the magazine and put them in with the sort interviews. We then had to create 'new fusion' images which was a mix between two different types of styles and our group decided to use rock and indie. We found a model to wear half and half with the two styles and took pictures of them outside to go into the magazine. The pictures came out really well with the two styles and we was really happy with them. Also in the magazine we had to have a section with a interview with someone from either the music industry or photography industry and we chose to do someone from a band we knew. We interviewed the person and had some shots taken of them to put in with the magazine. Beens we knew the person the interview was pretty easy to do and went really well, also the shots of her came out good and went in with the theme of the magazine so far. In our group with had to create the front cover for the magazine which had a theme too, in all the I-D magazine covers the person on the front cover would always be closing thee right eye or hiding there right eye with some sort of object or there hand. Beens this was the theme and style of the magazine we had to carry on with it so we found a model to go onto the front cover and created the photo to go on the front cover. After trying many different things we ended up having the model holding a rose over her right eye with the quote underneath 'Id rather have roses on my table then diamonds 'round my neck' because the quote went well and looked different and nice on the front cover. After having the right photo done and the quote i then went onto photoshop and created the front cover with all the text and I-D logo. We created a few different front covers but then decided which one we was going to use and it came out pretty well, could of been better but i liked how it turned out and it fitted well with the style of the magazine.

The best part of this project which i liked doing was the photo shoots for the front cover of the magazine and creating the front cover of the magazine because i like using photoshop and liked using my own ideas to create the cover and everything on the cover was our groups ideas and photos. It was to hard to do everything just took a bit of time but all came out well in the end and was very happy with the final result of the magazine and al the pages in it. Also the sketch book work we had to do with this project came out really well too so i was pleased with that too.

i-D Front Cover

Here is the front cover we have decided to use for the magazine. Adding in the I-D theme with only showing one eye and then adding all the other bits of information  to do with the issue. I created the front cover on photoshop as kate created the photography work for the cover. It was to hard to create but was fun making it and testing out different ways it would work. Beens Charli was holding a rose by here eye I decided to add in some more roses in the background and for the caption to be 'id rather have roses on my table than diamonds 'round myneck'. I feel this worked really well and everything came together nicely.

New Fushion

These are the photos we did for the fashion fusion which was to syltes mixed together. We decided to use grunge and indie. In the images the girl is wearing a check shirt for the indie style but then also doc martins for the grunge look. The photos were in black and white to start with but when we edited them in photoshop we decided to make them black and white and they looked alot better this way and stood out more. We also changed the lighting of the pictures a bit making some areas darker and some lighter. I enjoyed taking these photos with my group and then finally editing them on photoshop to create what we did.

Evaluation - Stop motion video.

The stop motion task was a bit different to what I have done in the past and didn’t really know what I was doing. As I researched into it more I got a better understanding of what it really was and how it all worked. After making a short test video myself I started to get to grips with it. For the project we had to make our own stop motion video in a group so in our group we decided to create a stop motion video that went to the song that was going to be played in the video which was originally Rihanna – Russian roulette. After playing about with the video we had created we decided that the song didn’t really go with the ‘fashion’ type of video we had made so decided to change the song to ‘Pink – Raise your glass’ which work much better. The main part I did in this project was take the photo of the girls in my group as in the video they would all walk towards the camera one by one showing different styles of clothing then the last few shots them all together. With this song it work really well and came out better than I thought. I didn’t enjoy this project as much as the last but did prefer doing the photography in it so that made it better.

Evaluation - CD Cover

Creating the CD cover was really good and fun to do, I did a lot of research on different bands and CD covers to see how there was layout and to see how they had done it, if they had used graphics of photography of the band or just simple font. All the CD covers where different I first decided I wanted a old English pub as the front cover and inside to be the inside of a pub. After taking some photos and playing around a bit with this I started to not like the idea and preferred some pictures that had been taken in the past which would work well with theme. The photos I chosen was of me, Connor and Joe doing our ‘band identity’ task with the pictures to make ourselves look like I band. As we did look like a band in the pictures this worked really well so I started work on these and see how these would turn out. To find out finally what CD cover type I was going to use I could these create the photos to fit in nicely in the cover and all together they came out really well. I did enjoy to this project as I got to take my photo pictures and edit them how I wanted.

Film Making

We are going to make a 3 minute film using 6 people.
We are all taking it in turns to walk towards the camera and pose in different ways.
Then we will all be on the shot walking towards the camera and posing.
After everyone has walked once they will appear again but with a different outfit on and do a different pose and walking a different way from the time before.

Then the 4 girls with walk on all together for a final shot.

Flick Books

A flip book or flick book is a book with a series of pictures that vary gradually from one page to the next, so that when the pages are turned rapidly, the pictures appear to animate by simulating motion or some other change. Flip books are often illustrated books for children, but may also be geared towards adults and employ a series of photographs rather than drawings. Flip books are not always separate books, but may appear as an added feature in ordinary books or magazines, often in the page corners. Software packages and websites are also available that convert digital video files into custom-made flip books.

History

Stop motion animation has a long history in film. It was often used to show objects moving as if by magic. The first instance of the stop motion technique can be credited to Albert E. Smith and J. Stuart Blackton for The Humpty Dumpty Circus, in which a toy circus of acrobats and animals come to life.

Minilogue/hitchhikers choice STOP MOTION

Stop motion is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence. Clay figures are often used in stop motion for their ease of repositioning. Motion animation using clay is called clay animation or clay-mation.

Stop Motion

Here are some snap shots of stop motion videos i found on the internet which made really good stop motion videos. They have gave us a lot of ideas we can use in our work and how we can go about making our video better. The very top image is from a well known film which uses a lot of stop motion in the film and works really well. After looking at all these different types of stop motion videos i am now looking forward to making the video with my group.
